The 6th annual St. Jude Fall Fest Car/Truck/Jeep Cruise-In & Show will roll into Owensboro at Applebee’s this Saturday, with the goal of raising money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

“It’s a family-friendly fun day for kids and vehicle lovers. It’s not so much of a show as just a fun parking lot cruise-in atmosphere,” said event organizer Jimmy Allyn.

The show has more than 70 awards for participants, with a $20 entry fee. Dash plaques will be given to the first 100 entries, while the top 40 receive best-in-show. There are also specialty awards for the top 25 bikes.

The show starts at 10 a.m. and carries on until 5 p.m. The day includes different activities including a raffle and auction starting as well as cornhole tournaments.

Allyn said the items available to take home include Callaway golf bags, custom-made fall wreaths, Bluetooth headphones, custom-stitched quilt blankets, Kindle Fire, Yeti Cool, and more.

All vehicles are asked to either park in front of the former Sears building or south of Applebee’s.

In addition to donating proceeds to St. Jude’s, Allyn said they are also collecting nonperishable items for the local Help Office.

Last year’s event raised just over $20,300 for the hospital, with 135 vehicles and 80 motorcycles paying entry fees to go along with other donations made by companies.

Allyn said that over the years, they have been able to contribute to almost half a million dollars to St. Jude.
