RiverValley Behavioral Health has officially opened RVBH@The Crowne, a facility designed to be “a beacon and a bridge” for the community by providing centralized access to mental health services and resources in a welcoming, family-friendly setting.

“Through RVBH@The Crowne, we hope to remove barriers for individuals in accessing essential mental health services and support,” said Dr. Wanda Figueroa-Peralta, RVBH President & CEO. “We believe that mental health is just as important as physical health, and everyone deserves access to quality care and resources. Empowering our community with increased access to mental health care and prevention resources is the first step towards helping us build a better, brighter future ahead.”

Figueroa-Peralta said the center has three main purposes.

“One is to connect people with resources and help them navigate, whether they need mental health services or they need someone to talk to during a crisis. We’re going to have staff here who are trained on how to connect those in need with services, at RiverValley or with other treatment providers,” she said.

Figueroa-Peralta said the second purpose is to serve as a training ground.

“We’re gonna have a community training space,” she said. “We focus on evidence-based training like mental health training, suicide prevention, how to deal with isolation, or special things based on what we see that the needs are or what people want to know.”

The third purpose, Figueroa-Peralta said, is to be a safe place for people to come and be in contact with a wellness and mental health library.

“Sometimes it’s quite difficult to go to a library because that section can be very limited,” she said. “All the books that we have here that deal with mental health, wellness, and self care have been reviewed by a team of therapists and mental health professionals. … We also have a special section for children. It’s incredible the wealth of resources that we have through children’s stories.”

RVBH@The Crowne is located at 107 East 2nd Street, across from the judicial center. It will be open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m to 5 p.m. Additional weekend hours will be offered during special events.

The facility will be staffed by a dedicated team of mental health professionals available to guide clients through the process of finding the right services and resources to fit their unique needs.

According to a release, services to be provided at RVBH@The Crowne include the following:
