The annual “Silver Bells” project is back, with the goal of collecting enough items to fill gift bags for approximately 250 residents in local personal care homes. Donations will be accepted through December 18.
The Silver Bells initiative is led by the Green River District Ombudsman, who advocates for residents of long-term personal care facilities. This marks the 12th year of Silver Bells.
“Residents of long-term personal care homes often retain little to no spending money each month. The Silver Bells project provides residents with commonly needed and wanted goods so they can use their spending money elsewhere during the holiday season,” said Andrew Law, the Green River District Ombudsman.
Gift bags will include items such as canned soft drinks, chips, gloves, hand lotion, lip balm, puzzle books, snack cakes, snack crackers, socks, and tissues.
“The residents always look forward to the delivery of the gift bags,” Law said. “It’s our goal to hopefully bring them some holiday cheer through Silver Bells.”
Donations of goods, cash, or checks may be made through December 18. Donations may be dropped off at the GRADD office (300 Gradd Way) during regular business hours, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
