Independence Bank is accepting applications for its annual scholarship program, which has awarded more than $1.7 million since its inception in 2001. The deadline to apply is Monday.

The Independence Bank Scholarship Program began in 2001 as a dream of the late Charles A. Reid, a founding partner of the Bank. In 2023, the Bank provided 90 scholarships totaling nearly $130,000.

The Bank offers a variety of scholarships catering to students from all walks of life with future plans that include attending a trade school, enrolling in community college, or attending a 4-year college or university.

Applicants are judged based on areas such as community involvement, financial need, extracurricular activities, a submitted essay, personal interviews, high school grades, and  ACT scores.

“For more than two decades, this scholarship program has provided money to standout students,” said Independence Bank Board of Directors Chairman Chris Reid. “It is incredibly humbling, yet rewarding, to hear and read through the stories of success,  struggle, strength, and sincerity that surface throughout this process. We applaud their  efforts and hope that these allocations ease some budgetary burdens.”

Applicants must be high school seniors living in or attending a school in Calloway, Daviess, Fayette, Franklin, Graves, Hancock, Henderson, Hopkins, Jefferson,  Logan, McCracken, McLean, Shelby, Warren, or Webster counties.

The 2024 winners are expected to be announced through a reception this spring. To apply or learn more, visit 1776bank.com/scholarships.
