Terri Crowe recently launched Room Relief, a professional organizing company. Crowe is accepting clients and operates under the tagline of restoring peace to people’s lives one room at a time.

Crowe has always been a fan of the show “Hoarders” and is an avid organizer, so she said the new side hustle made sense. Frequently, she said, Crowe starts in her client’s garage and migrates to additional rooms and spaces within their home.

“I try to help people with chronic disorganization issues,” Crowe said. “Every situation is different. Sometimes, people just want a more peaceful home setting with less clutter and more organization.”

Crowe said the amount of stuff one can accumulate is amazing, often cluttering themselves out of their living space. She attributes this to the memories and emotions people usually associate with tangible things.

“Some people will rent storage units solely to keep stuff they’re ‘attached’ to,” she said. “Others have compulsive shopping habits. With social media and the internet, we’re fed marketing directly linked to our interests.”

Crowe has always been tidy and organized by nature. While she considered launching the business for a couple of years, her interest in the show “Hoarders” ultimately inspired her to seize the opportunity.

“I’ve seen every episode 2 or 3 times, and I was always super impressed by the professional organizers and psychologists who help the individuals in crisis,” she said. “After thinking about it for a couple of years, I told myself, ‘I can do this. I can help people with organizing and decluttering.’ Everyone could use some coaching or guidance with how to organize.”

Crowe said the continuum of clutter runs the gauntlet, and some have it worse than others. Regardless of the situation, she said she was there to help, not judge.

She offers free consultations and quotes, offering a standard rate of $50 per hour. She also hauls items to Goodwill for an additional $25 per load.

Crowe referenced a quote from Matt Paxton on the show, where he says, “It’s not about the stuff. It’s the emotion and the attachment to the stuff. There’s a fear of getting rid of stuff.”
