The dates have been set for the 51st annual Daviess County Lions Club Fair back this year. Organizers said the event will run from July 17-20, combining fan favorites with a sprinkle of new attractions.

This year’s event includes motocross on Wednesday, monster truck shows on Thursday, and truck and tractor pulls on Friday and Saturday. There will also be a massive fireworks show to close things out on Saturday night.

There will also be livestock shows daily, garden tractor pulls, and a fan-favorite: first-bite fishing.

“It’s been a great 50 years at the fairgrounds and we’re excited to keep the tradition going,” said one of the organizers, Joan Hayden. “We have several new members and volunteers this year who are eager to help out.”

When attending the fair, people pay only for one entry ticket that includes access to every ride. Hayden said they’ll have carnival rides, inflatables, entertainment, a petting zoo, pony rides, and a variety of food and vendor options.

“We have something for kids of all ages,” she said. “It’s always been our goal to create a family-friendly event that’s affordable. It’s just amazing to see smiles on kids’ faces.”

New to this year’s event will be hot air balloon rides in the parking lot, which will cost an additional $20.

Attendees can also participate in or spectate talent shows and live entertainment. The local 4H and FFA organizations will host daily open crop displays, arts and crafts, and livestock shows.

On Thursday, the Daviess County Lions Club will host their annual community day, hosting youth from various nonprofits for a day at the fairground. Owensboro Health sponsors the day, which includes unlimited rides and attractions and a free lunch.

Pageants will also return to the fairgrounds, with more information coming soon.
