A new event focused on all aspects of the clowning art form is coming to Owensboro this year. The Universal Clown Summit and Reunion will include workshops, competitions, and exhibitors geared toward every level of experience — from full-time performers to those interested in trying out the profession for the first time.
The summit will take place September 4-7 at the Owensboro Convention Center.
Deanna Hartmier, from Winnipeg, Canada, is on the planning committee and performs under the name of Dee Dee the Clown.
“I’m excited to be a part of this new educational opportunity for the clowning community,” she said. “We will learn from one another, network, and build more camaraderie together.”
Organizers said cutting-edge clowning products will be on display, and there will be a chance to learn advanced clowning skills from top-notch instructors across the country.
The cost to attend the 2.5-day conference starts at $150. All tickets must be purchased in advance. To learn more about the event or to purchase tickets, visit The Universal Clown Summit and Reunion on Facebook or email [email protected].
Mark Calitri, President/CEO of Visit Owensboro, is excited about the economic impact the summit will have locally.
“We are thrilled to welcome this distinctive clown event to our city,” he said. “Not only does it highlight our dedication to embracing unique, one-of-a-kind forms of entertainment, but it also underscores our proactive approach to attracting niche business opportunities that benefit our community.”
