The Daviess County Public Library will be closed on March 21 so the staff can attend the Kentucky Public Library Association Spring Conference being held in downtown Owensboro. Some of DCPL’s staff are leading sessions at the event.
The conference kicked off today and runs through Friday and is being held at the Owensboro Convention Center. This marks the second year in a row the conference is being held in Owensboro after being held in Bowling Green in previous years.
“We are really proud that they have decided to host it in Owensboro again,” said DCPL Executive Director Erin Waller. “There will be librarians from all over the state and region attending.”
Officials tout the event as a professional development opportunity offering informative and applicable sessions, social networking activities, time to interact with vendors, and more.
“This is a great opportunity for us to get together with others in the profession for networking and learning,” Waller said. “DCPL has 7 staff members presenting sessions and several others attending the conference to meet with vendors or attend sessions. The sessions range from topics such as outreach, partnerships, advocacy, and grant writing. We are excited to show Owensboro off to our colleagues.”
The library will resume normal business hours on Friday.
