Owensboro native Seth Fulkerson has been creative, pursuing his passion for video game development in 2022. After being laid off from the mortgage industry earlier that year, he launched the software development company Seedy Eye Software.

As an independent video game developer, he recently released his first commercial title, “Arzette: The Jewel of Faramore.” He said the game pays homage to the early 1990s CD-ROM-style game.

“Shortly after creating the company, I secured a publishing deal with Limited Run Games for this project. I was very fortunate,” Fulkerson said. “The game plays like a modernized version of games from that era, including fully hand-painted background artwork and over 40 minutes of fully-voiced cartoon animation.”

Fulkerson was the director, designer, programmer, writer, and overall project manager of the game, working alongside several talented artists and animators. He said gamers’ responses have been overwhelmingly positive and far exceeded his expectations.

“I develop retro-style video games with a unique art style and a good sense of humor,” he said. “I design my games to be enjoyed by players of all ages and skill levels. In addition to developing my own games, I assist other independent developers. Game development is my passion and calling, and I’m very lucky to do it for a living.”

“Arzette: The Jewel of Faramore” is available now for PC and all modern video game consoles (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S/X). For a link to each version, visit arzette.com.

Gamers can also search Arzette on their system of choice or, for a limited time, purchase a physical version of the game here. To learn more about Fulkerson and his efforts, follow him on X at @thedopster or visit his website here

“I am very thankful to my friends, family, and everyone else in my life who has supported me in my journey to become a game developer,” Fulkerson said. “I feel very blessed.”
