Red Swing Coffee is expanding with a location on Owensboro’s west side. The business, which will maintain its current downtown location, offers gourmet coffee, specialty drinks, and innovative takes on breakfast, lunch, and desserts.
The husband-and-wife duo of Brandon and Brittney Dukes opened Red Swing at 112 Allen Street in May 2022. They haven’t set a date for when the second location will open at 2803 West Parrish Avenue.
“Since opening downtown, we’ve experienced steady growth,” Brittney said. “We kept getting feedback from our customers and saw a need for our product on the west side. We love downtown and all it has to offer. We want to expand and offer our product to more people.”
The couple arrived at the Red Swing name because they concluded many of their early dates on a swing and thought it was the perfect name for the shop. Like the downtown location, they promise the new spot will offer the same transcending and positive experience.
“Everything we do, we think of you. Our passion lies in serving you, not just a cup of coffee, but a moment of joy, a taste of comfort, and a memory to cherish,” Brittney said of their dedication to customers.
The second location will feature more seating and easy access with its own parking lot. The couple had been searching for a second shop for some time when their realtor suggested the West Parrish location.
“We had a few locations slip out of our hands while others just weren’t the right fit. We went to see this one just to check it off our list,” Brandon said. “There was something about it, though, like we felt God’s calling.”
One side of the space will serve as the shop, while the Dukes have other visions and plans for the empty adjacent space. Some of their ideas include an event rental space, a winter farmers’ market, and retail space for local artists.
The Dukes said the new location will offer the same Red Swing hospitality with a different atmosphere. They’re currently remodeling the space and look forward to serving Owensboro’s west side.
The space was originally a Western Sizzlin. While it’s been a revolving door in recent years, the Dukes look forward to growing roots and becoming a mainstay in the area.
“We want to do something transcending that creates a positive memory for everyone who joins us,” Brandon said. “I’ve never seen anyone upset while swinging. That’s what we’re trying to create here — an uplifting atmosphere with quality products.”
Red Swing offers an assortment of drink items, including standard drip coffee, lattes, espressos, espresso drinks, smoothies, teas, frappuccinos, and more.
For breakfast, there is an assortment of bubble waffle options, yogurts, wraps, omelets, and several healthy toast options. The lunch menu boasts multiple wrap choices, chicken salad, a BLT with avocado spread, a spicy quesadilla, and more.
Both locations will also include dessert options ranging from cupcakes with homemade buttercream icing and brownies to cake balls and cookies.
