The Owensboro Police Department will host their 9th Annual Run With the Cops 5K run/walk this Saturday. Sign-ups are still open for the event.

The race is open to runners of all skill levels and will be divided into different categories based on age and gender. Awards will be given to the faster overall male and female, plus age group awards for 14-and-under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+.

The money raised goes toward The D.A.R.E. program, Camp K.O.P.S., and specialty units, including Hazardous Device, Accident Reconstruction, Canine, and others.

Organizers encourage participants to wear costumes; the one deemed best will receive a crown after the race. In the past, racers have come dressed as cops, robbers, and prisoners — playing to the title of Run with the Cops.

The race will start at 8:30 a.m., and roads will be blocked off for a short period. See the full route here. To register, click here.
