Theatre Workshop of Owensboro’s youth program is going to the deep blue sea with “Finding Nemo Jr.” at the end of June. Before the show takes the stage, students can audition this weekend.
The show is open to students aged 7-17 to audition on April 12 from 5-7 p.m. and April 13 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Trinity Centre.
With it being a youth show, Director Karen Feldhaus said they wanted to make the students feel comfortable when they audition. There will be more group and paired auditions rather than being put on the spot in a solo tryout.
Feldhaus also said that no experience is required for the play.
“We’re asking students to come in with one ensemble song prepared, and if they’ve got a specific part they want to audition for, they can prepare that song, too,” Feldhaus said. “But honestly, they can come in and not be prepared at all, and we have everything that they need to audition, so no one should be scared at all.”
Feldhaus said they hope the show ignites some family fun.
“I just think Nemo is a fun, bright, playful, and really colorful play. I really wanted something that kids of all ages can participate in and something that I felt would draw a lot of different kids in,” Feldhaus said.
When the show takes the stage the last weekend in June, they plan to immerse the audience in the world of “Finding Nemo.”
