The Senior Center of Owensboro-Daviess County plans to celebrate Older Americans Month throughout May and kick off its summer programming with a resource fair on May 23 in partnership with Hospice of Western Kentucky.
Senior Center Executive Director Becky Barnhart said the fair will be held on their lawn (1650 West 2nd Street). Several organizations will be on site and there will be events for the community to enjoy, she said.
Barnhart said they try to do an event every May for Older Americans Month that also kicks off their summer programming.
“We usually have a resource fair, where people just walk around, grab all the freebies, and talk to some vendors. That’s not going to be this. It will be something a little more fun, interactive, and engaging,” Barnhart said.
She said the fair will allow seniors to learn about different services available to them, and allow them to set up appointments to ensure all planning is in line.
The event will be free and open to anyone, not just Senior Center members. Barnhart said anyone interested in joining the event should contact the Senior Center.
