Marvin Staser and his family purchased a small fabrication shop at 5940 KY 2830 just off of U.S. 60 in 2015, dreaming of launching a turnkey outdoor living operation. They created S&S Earthscapes and have since added another building, a retail rock yard, a scale, and much more to meet the community’s growing needs.
Staser emphasized its growing retail yard, where businesses and individuals can choose from several different landscape rocks, aggregate, dirt, compost, flagstone, edgers, bubblers, turf, mulch, pine straw, and much more. The company also specializes in excavation, hardscape, concrete, and trucking, among many others.
“We want to be a one-stop shop for everything,” he said. “We can come in and take care of all of your outdoor living needs. We really want to expand our excavation and trucking efforts. We will service other people needing trucks to deliver rocks to jobs.”
S&S is approaching 15 employees and is constantly evolving and expanding.
“We’re a family business with a family atmosphere,” Staser said. “Our website is great for learning about our products and services, but it’s always best to come by here and see what we have going on.”
Staser owns the company along with his parents, Ed and Jennifer — hence the name S&S. Growing up, he moved several times for his dad’s job but said once they arrived in Owensboro, they knew they wanted to plant some roots, pun intended.
“The community has been very supportive and receptive, but we’re always hearing people say they didn’t know we were out here,” he said. “We don’t plan on going anywhere; we’ve planted our roots and built this business.”
S&S is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. Visit their website here for more information.
