Looking for some family-friendly fun this weekend? There are plenty of options starting today and lasting through Sunday — from a plethora of events for Jeep lovers, to a strawberry festival, to a packed lineup of music, and even a chance to seem some exotic reptiles. Here’s a quick look at what’s going on in Owesboro.
Jeeps and Jamz Expo
The 4-day event technically kicked off Thursday but really gets going today. A free expo will be staged at the Convention Center Friday and Saturday, and a massive Jeep convoy while make a lap around owensboro on Saturday afternoon. First Fridays
Three Christian music artists are coming to Owensboro with the return of the “First Fridays” that takes place on the outdoor stage of the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum. The free music series kicks off tonight with Sarah Kroger, while Jordan St. Cyr will perform in July and Sanctus Real in August. Learn more here.
PorchFest OBKY
Nearly 40 acts will perform across 12 stages on Griffith Avenue on Saturday, starting at 3 p.m. and lasting well into the night. Here’s the full PorchFest lineup. The event is free to attend and will also include numerous food vendors.
Strawberry Festival
The Cottage Farm Stand’s Strawberry Festival returns for its third year and has added a car show. Visitors can expect a fusion of classic cars, family friendly entertainment, 120+ vendors, “truck town,” pony rides, a petting zoo, live music, and artisanal crafts — on top of all things strawberry. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days. Parking costs $5.
Farmers’ Market
The Owensboro Regional Farmers’ Market is in full swing and will again be open from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday. With more than 60 vendors (not all are on site each week), guests can find fresh meat and produces, plants, baked goods, and all sorts of other unique and customized products.
Nicky Hayden Day Memorial Ride
The Nicky Hayden Day Memorial Ride returns to Owensboro on June 9. While The Hayden family will kick off the event with an opening ceremony followed by a 1-hour ride, but the fundraiser is more than just a ride; it will include plenty of food and entertainment for the entire family. Owensboro Reptile and Exotics Show
Exotic animals and reptiles will fill the Owensboro National Guard this Sunday as the Owensboro Reptile and Exotics Show takes stage from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Guests can meet vendors and learn about reptiles, amphibians, arachnids, birds, small mammals, and other animals.
