Spirit Halloween — the national retailer that supplies Halloween decorations, costumes, animatronics, props, and more — is back in Owensboro.
The store fully opened Friday and is located at 4654 Frederica Street, in the middle of the shopping center that includes Buffalo Wild Wings and Big Lots.
Spirit Halloween had been in Owensboro for the better part of a decade until 2019, then returned in 2023.
Hours are currently 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, but those will increase as Halloween draws nearer.
Spirit Halloween offers a unique and vast assortment of costumes and accessories for everyone from infants to adults, along with exclusive décor and animatronics.
Spirit Halloween also runs a philanthropic arm called Spirit of Children, which has a goal of helping children and their families cope during illness or a hospital procedure by providing funding to support Child Life Departments in more than 150 hospitals across the United States and Canada. The program has raised over 127 million dollars through the support of Spirit Halloween guests, associates, and business partners.
All proceeds raised stay in their local market providing critical Child Life resources for pediatric hospital partners.
“Every penny of each donation made to Spirit of Children goes directly to each store’s local partner hospital’s Child Life Department to support children and their families while they receive care,” according to the Spirit Halloween website. “Partner hospitals use donations to provide critical child life staff, sibling and family support services, sensory equipment, and patient-focused resources, including therapy programming, toys, crafts, art supplies, and so much more. Plus, every Halloween all partner hospitals receive packages filled with costumes, accessories, coloring books, crayons, and tote bags to help facilitate festive Halloween celebrations for patients, caregivers, and their families.”
