Daviess County native Blair Gaddis has earned the title of Miss Teen Kentucky County Fair 2024.

“It was a dream come true,” Gaddis said of her experience. “I was very excited, especially since it was my first time ever going to state.”

Preparation was vital for Gaddis. She focused much of her time on honing her interview skills, which she said were an essential component of the competition. She credited Jackie Smith with helping her with public speaking, a skill she knew would be critical for success.

The competition was held over two days, starting with interviews in front of a panel of judges on Friday afternoon. The next day was packed with activity, including early morning hair appointments and makeup sessions before the pageant’s evening kickoff at 7 p.m.

Contestants competed in party dress attire and gowns before the judges narrowed the field down to the Top 17. Then, the runners-up and eventual winner were announced.

Gaddis said she is only the second Daviess County contestant to win the teen division, following Lauren Wallace, who will compete this January.

She hopes to become more involved in the community and is particularly excited about collaborating with GRADSA (Green River Area Down Syndrome Association).

“I plan to attend the state fair and as many county pageants as possible,” Gaddis said. “The Christmas Parade is next month, and I can’t wait to see everyone there.”

As she reflected on her journey, Gaddis was quick to acknowledge those who helped her along the way. She expressed her gratitude to her pageant director Latasha Shemwell, Smith, the hair and makeup team at KMC, and her parents.

With her title in hand and a heart full of ambition, Gaddis said she is ready to make the most of her time as Miss Teen Kentucky County Fair 2024.
