Beverly’s Hearty Slice (BHS) is preparing for its annual Christmas event where the nonprofit serves hundreds of families. The event is set to take place at the Owensboro Convention Center on December 20.

The event, sponsored by the Don Moore Automotive Team, will begin at 5:30 p.m. BHS founder and CEO Travis Owsley promises an evening of festive fun, giveaways, and community spirit.

This year’s celebration builds on the success of past events, including the nonprofit’s recent Thanksgiving outreach, which served a record number of meals. Owsley said the Christmas event is an opportunity to close the year on a high note while giving back to the community.

“This event is all about spreading joy and ensuring families in Owensboro have something to celebrate during the holidays,” Owsley said. “Last year, we had a record-breaking number of people join us, and the turnout reminded us just how important it is to bring people together. We’re aiming to make this year even bigger and better.”

Families attending the event will enjoy free hot chocolate from Kahawa Java, pizza and cookies courtesy of Little Caesars, and Pepsi drinks sponsored by Terrell Cline. Children can look forward to a special visit with Santa and free photos. The event will also include a drawing for bicycles and more.

In addition to the fun, BHS is giving away 100 Walmart gift cards to adults and distributing toys and hats to children.

“We want to create a warm and welcoming environment for everyone, no matter their circumstances,” Owsley said.

The event relies on a dedicated team of volunteers and community sponsors, including the Western Academy at the Neblett, Girls Inc., Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, and several area schools.

“Our volunteers and partners are the heart of this event,” Owsley said. “It’s humbling to see so many people come together to make a difference.”

Owsley also expressed gratitude to the Owensboro Convention Center for hosting the event, noting the significance of their partnership.

“The support we’ve received is overwhelming,” he said. “It shows what a strong, compassionate community we have in Owensboro.”

As Beverly’s Hearty Slice continues to expand its outreach, Owsley remains focused on the mission that inspired it all: serving others with kindness and generosity.
