Brandon and Brittany Dukes, the husband-and-wife team behind Red Swing Coffee, will open a second location on Monday on Owensboro’s west side.

Red Swing Coffee West will be located at 2803 West Parrish Avenue. The expansion comes two years after the launch of their downtown shop at 112 Allen Street in May 2022.

The Dukes said the original Red Swing Coffee quickly became a local favorite, known for its gourmet coffee, specialty drinks, and innovative breakfast and lunch options. They attribute the success to their commitment to creating a welcoming environment.

“We wanted to create a whole experience for each customer in an environment where they walked in, and they knew they were seen,” Brittany said.

The new west-side location offers a spacious 7,000-square-foot building with ample parking and easy access from across the city. The interior features a bright, modern design with various seating arrangements, including group areas and quiet corners for studying or working.

“This place is for everybody,” Brittany added.

A notable addition is the “Acacia Room,” a versatile event space the couple named after the durable acacia wood, which Brandon said holds Biblical significance. The room can accommodate up to 100 people and is equipped with internet access and casting capabilities.

He said it’s suitable for events ranging from birthday parties to corporate meetings. Information about renting the Acacia Room is available on their website here.

The menu at Red Swing Coffee West will mirror the downtown offerings, including coffee favorites and food items, with added grab-and-go options such as breakfast pastries, scones, and muffins. The Dukes are also considering introducing additional sweets to cater to local tastes.

The couple’s hands-on approach to building the new location is reflected in every detail, from design choices to hiring decisions. Their team has doubled in size, and Brittany noted the importance of a supportive, values-driven team as they take on this new chapter.

The Dukes took on much of the remodeling for Red Swing Coffee West themselves, investing long hours to turn the space into a welcoming spot for the community. They handled nearly every detail – from painting to installing fixtures – calling in family and a few contractors only for specialized tasks.

Brittany shared that their faith played a significant role in guiding them through the hard work and challenges of opening the new location, expressing gratitude for the journey and the community support that came with it.

“I truly believe Christ put us on this path for a reason,” Brittany said. “Every step of the way, we felt blessed and motivated to create something meaningful, and we’re so grateful to see it all come together.”

The new location is situated just off Parrish Avenue near the intersection of Carter Road on the same side as UHaul.

Through this expansion, they aim to continue building a community-focused space in Owensboro.

“We believe in big dreams,” Brandon said. “Whether it’s through our coffee or our space, we want others to feel inspired to pursue their own dreams.”
