David Tucker has been named Executive Director of the Senior Community Center of Owensboro-Daviess County. Tucker, who previously served as the County Aging Coordinator and Operations Manager, steps into the leadership role following five years of service at the Center.
“Being the second manager in leadership, I have worked closely with our director and have learned the entire operation, including our funding, contracts, and activities,” Tucker said. “With the momentum and growth we have built, it was an easy decision to keep us moving forward.”
Tucker’s immediate focus is ensuring a smooth transition for the Center’s members.
The Center serves as a hub for the local senior population, offering a range of programs to meet their needs. Tucker emphasized the importance of maintaining and expanding those offerings.
“We will continue our focus on meeting as many needs as possible and sharing with the community what we offer here at SCC,” Tucker said. “We hope to continue what we are doing while planning for the future. Our staff has many ideas for activities and events to be added to our next calendar year.”
Engaging the broader community is also a priority for Tucker.
“Knowledge and communication are key to spreading the word of what we do,” he said. “We will look to build more partnerships with the community, while continuing to embrace all the great support we already receive.”
To enhance volunteer involvement and increase participation, Tucker is evaluating the Center’s current volunteer program. He also stressed the importance of listening to the seniors the Center serves.
“We’re working with our staff and volunteers to identify needs and organize our efforts,” he said. “We welcome feedback through surveys, forums, and conversations. While we can’t implement every suggestion, we’re committed to exploring ideas that will benefit our community.”
Tucker expressed gratitude for the support he’s received during the transition.
“My family and I love being a part of such a great organization,” he said. “The Senior Community Center is a great place to be. The seniors are great to work with and have been very supportive during this transition period.”
