Whitesville Historical Society is set to host its inaugural Christmas Tour of Homes and Open House on Saturday, inviting the community to explore five local homes decorated for the holidays. The self-guided tour runs from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., immediately following the Whitesville Christmas Parade, and concludes at the Whitesville Historical Society.
Some of the homes will offer live music and refreshments.
Tickets for the event are $20 and can be purchased at the Whitesville Historical Society during office hours, which are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. Attendees will receive a tour card, which must be marked at each home to qualify for door prizes, including a handmade quilt.
Prize drawings will occur at the historical society at 1 p.m., though winners do not need to be present to claim their prizes.
Jackie Bickett, a historical society representative, said the idea for the tour stemmed from a desire to expand Whitesville’s festive celebrations and raise awareness about the historical society.
“We wanted to create something special to complement the day’s events, and a tour of homes decorated for Christmas felt like the perfect addition,” Bickett said.
The featured homes on the tour include:
- Kathy and John Anderson’s Home, 9885 Melba Lane
- The Old Home Place (Beyke’s), 8281 Haynes Station Road
- Loretta Bailey’s Home, 10566 Franklin Street
- Linda and Fred Perry’s Home, 10114 Main Street
- Baptist Church Parsonage, 10185 KY 54
The event’s final stop is the Whitesville Historical Society, located at 10143 KY 54. Visitors can enjoy its exhibits, highlighting the history and stories of Whitesville’s founders and families.
“We want to stress the importance of visiting all five homes,” Bickett said. “The homeowners have put in tremendous effort, and we’re excited to showcase their work.
Guests are encouraged to explore the homes in any order and return to the historical society for refreshments and live music afterward. NeedMor BBQ food truck will also be stationed outside.
