The inaugural Western Kentucky Outdoor Expo will take over the Owensboro Convention Center on April 12-13, offering outdoor enthusiasts a free event packed with vendors, demonstrations, and giveaways.
The event, organized by podcast hosts Brooklyn Johnson and Heather Terry in partnership with the Owensboro Convention Center and Visit Owensboro, will feature a wide variety of products and brands catering to campers, hikers, hunters, and other outdoor adventurers. Vendors will showcase RVs, ATVs, motocross bikes, side-by-sides, camping equipment, fishing and hunting gear, as well as hiking, biking, and boating products.
The expo will run from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on April 12 and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on April 13. Vendor applications and sponsorship opportunities are currently available.
Johnson said the event was inspired by a desire to bring new trade shows to Owensboro after realizing the region had been without such an event for several years.
“The time of year created extra excitement for us as we knew people would be ready to reignite their passion for the outdoors,” Johnson said.
Johnson is an avid outdoorswoman who enjoys hiking, backpacking, camping, and boating. Meanwhile, Terry — a novice exploring the outdoors through hiking and cabin retreats — wanted to ensure the expo appeals to a wide range of attendees.
“We wanted to make sure this expo caters to every type of outdoor adventurer, from backpackers and hunters to those who enjoy a simple weekend hike,” Johnson said.
The two also co-host a podcast, “A Couple of Sassholes,” which can be found at coupleofsassholes.com. After doing the podcast together for two years, they founded COS Productions, LLC in July 2024.
Terry explained that with both of their previous career backgrounds and experience, they wanted to work on bringing new events to the Owensboro area.
