Angela Rice’s Easter oratorio “Thy Will Be Done” is coming to Owensboro in March. The production brings together world-class orchestras, choirs, and Grammy-winning soloists for an evening of music and inspiration.
The performance is scheduled for 7 p.m. on March 31 at the RiverPark Center.
The 90-minute oratorio follows Jesus’ life, ministry, crucifixion, and resurrection, according to a flyer for the event. Rice, a Kentucky native, debuted “Thy Will Be Done” in 2012. Over the years, the oratorio has evolved into a 36-piece orchestral masterpiece. Inspired by her faith, Rice considers the work a reflection of the profound emotions and miracles of belief.
“‘Thy Will Be Done’ reflects the profound emotions and miracles of faith,” Rice said. “Sharing this oratorio with audiences across Kentucky is a blessing, and I hope it inspires all who hear it.”
The tour features the Paducah Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Raffaele Ponti and Marcello Cormio, alongside esteemed choral ensembles, including the Paducah Singers and the Lexington Singers. Together, they will deliver Rice’s powerful composition, which explores themes of faith, humility, and love.
The cast includes Grammy winners, Metropolitan Opera singers, Richard Tucker Award winners, and performers renowned for appearances at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and Royal Albert Hall. These accomplished artists will bring Rice’s orchestral work to life with their exceptional talent.
