The Junior League of Owensboro is teaming up with Beverly’s Hearty Slice to support local residents in need by providing hygiene essentials at the nonprofit’s upcoming pizza distribution event on April 25.
Beverly’s Hearty Slice, founded by Travis Owsley, has become a grassroots staple in Owensboro by handing out free pizzas at biweekly events to individuals and families facing food insecurity. Since its launch in 2021, the organization has served thousands of hot meals across Daviess County, often partnering with local businesses and volunteers to expand its reach.
The April 25 event will be the latest in that effort, with the Junior League of Owensboro contributing bags of hygiene items collected through its 2025 Charity Ball fundraising initiative. League President Jennifer Vogel said the partnership aligns with their mission to make a direct impact on the lives of women, children, and families in the community.
“Through our Free Laundry Days, we have met countless community members who have benefited from the resources we offer, and we are looking forward to connecting with others we can support at this joint event,” Vogel said.
Owsley said the partnership allows both organizations to expand their service in meaningful ways.
“I’m really excited about this partnership because it helps us go beyond just a hot meal,” Owsley said. “We’ll be able to meet people where they are and give them some of the things they truly need.”For more about the Junior League and their community efforts, visit jlowensboro.org.
