After a successful debut last year, Knottsville Porch Fest is back with more music, food, and community fun. The event will be held Saturday, with performances on five porches throughout the heart of Knottsville starting at 4:30 p.m.
The informal, front-porch music festival features a diverse lineup of local performers, with genres ranging from gospel and bluegrass to classic rock and country.
“There are so many talented people in our area who can sing and play music,” said Charla Coomes, one of the event organizers. “The Knottsville Porch Fest is a fun way for our small town to come together and show some love for the local talent.”
Acts will rotate between porches hosted by local families and community members. The five porch hosts this year include Ivan and Kathy Hagan, Tom’s Hell & Ice, Danny and Anne Howard, the St. William Church parking lot, and Kenny and Benita Turner.
Music will be nearly nonstop from early evening into the night. Highlights include Colton Lanham & Friends, Daviess County Line, Matt and Ben Morris, Gavin Howard, and Old State Road, among many others.
“The lineup has a little bit of everything — music from gospel to bluegrass to country, old rock,” said Kathy Hagan. “People can expect lots of good food, great music, and great company.”
Food vendors will be set up in the church parking lot, offering burgers, hot dogs, pork chops, fried bologna, and pork sandwiches, along with a Kona Ice truck and a Mexican food truck. T-shirts will also be available for purchase.
Organizers encourage attendees to bring lawn chairs and enjoy the relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. Mass will be offered at 4 p.m. at St. Lawrence, the only service scheduled for the day. Parking is available beside the church and in the gym lot, but not in the school or church office lots. Golf carts and side-by-sides are not permitted.
“It’s a great chance to enjoy good music, good food, support our friends and neighbors, and just have a good time as a community,” Coomes said.
The event is free to attend, and trash cans will be placed at each porch to help keep the area clean. Organizers want to remind attendees that underage drinking is not permitted, and they are not responsible for accidents.
