An Owensboro family’s first trip to Lambeau Field turned into a once-in-a-lifetime memory after a photo of two young brothers was chosen as the winner of the Green Bay Packers’ fan photo contest. The image will be featured on the iconic marquee signs outside Lambeau Field and in other stadium locations during a 2025 regular-season home game.
Lexi Roerk’s winning picture was a snapshot of her sons, 5-year-old Maddox and 3-year-old Milo, during their first Packers game on October 20, 2024, when Green Bay defeated the Houston Texans 24-22 on a walk-off field goal. The photo beat out thousands of submissions and more than 12,000 votes to be named the grand prize winner.
“It’s so exciting,” Roerk said. “We’ve followed this contest for a few years, and when we finally made our first trip with the boys, I told my husband to trust me — it was worth investing in the cheeseheads and green-and-gold bibs for the photo. I had a plan.”
The contest ran from March 19 through May 1. After narrowing thousands of submissions to five finalists, the Packers opened voting on packerseverywhere.com to let fans choose the winner. Roerk said she was honored just to make the top five.
“There are so many passionate fans out there, so for our photo to be picked was really special,” she said. “It’s a little memory we’ll always treasure — something our boys and I did together.”
While she hoped the photo stood out, Roerk admitted she wasn’t sure they could win due to how active other contestants were on social media.
“I really didn’t think we had a chance,” she said. “But they pulled through. I was so happy.”
The Packers notified the family by phone two days before the public announcement. Along with having the photo displayed at the stadium, the Roerks will receive tickets to the game, sideline passes, and travel accommodations. They’re still waiting to find out which game they’ll attend, as the NFL schedule hasn’t yet been released.
Roerk said while she didn’t grow up a Packers fan, her husband Shane is a lifelong supporter — and over the years, the passion for green and gold has spread through the household.
“I didn’t marry into it thinking I’d become a fan,” she said with a laugh. “But now I might even be the bigger fan. And the boys are completely into it, too.”
