The ROMP festival is back at Yellow Creek Park this week, bringing four days of music, camping, workshops, and community to Owensboro from Wednesday to Saturday — and organizers are preparing for the heat just as much as the headliners.

“We have averaged about 20,000 to 25,000 attendees over the past few years,” said Erin Rouse, marketing manager for the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum. “That kind of support not only builds a strong sense of community, but it also brings a positive economic impact to Owensboro, from local businesses to tourism.”

Organizers are also taking extra safety precautions due to the ongoing heat wave. Rouse said guests will have access to shaded areas, a walk-through misting sprayer, plenty of ice and water, and the Yellow Creek spray park — especially helpful for families with children. Medical staff will be on-site at all times.

Attendees are encouraged to stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and take breaks from the sun.

ROMP 2025 officially opens Wednesday night with performances from Buffalo Wabs & The Price Hill Hustle at 8 p.m., followed by Sheriff Scott & The Deputies at 9:30 p.m. on the Jagoe Homes After Party Stage in the Pioneer Village.

Main stage performances begin Thursday at 4 p.m. and last until about 10:30, featuring the Vickie Vaughn Band, Willie Watson, Del McCoury Band, Molly Tuttle, and Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country.

Friday’s schedule runs from 2:15–10:30 p.m. with acts including Johnny & The Yooahoos, The Dillards, Fireside Collective, AJ Lee & Blue Summit, Sam Bush, and Town Mountain.

The festival concludes Saturday with a stacked lineup from 12:30–10:30 p.m. featuring Kentucky Bluegrass Allstars, Tray Wellington Band, The Kody Norris Show, Ben Sollee, The Steeldrivers, Wynonna Judd, and Mountain Grass Unit.

Night owls can catch late-night sets that kick off at midnight on the after-party stage, with Fireside Collective on Thursday, Dirty Grass Players on Friday, and Big Richard closing things out Saturday.

Beyond the music, ROMP offers workshops on Friday and Saturday — from jam sessions to square dancing — plus a kids’ zone with interactive storytelling, art projects, and songwriting workshops. Food and craft vendors will be on hand with homemade goods and local fare.

Tickets are available in single-day and full-festival formats, with general admission passes ranging from $45 to $130 per day. A full four-day GA pass is $250, while VIP options are also available — $200 for a single day or $600 for the full festival. VIP passes include catered meals, air-conditioned restrooms, and premium seating. Children under 12 are free with a paying adult.

Camping passes must be purchased separately. Tent campers can pay $285 for a four-day pass or $25 for a single night. RV passes are $165, with generator options available. Campers should note that electricity and water hookups are not included.

This year also introduces a new glamping option for $673.85, featuring a queen bed, seating and storage options, a charging station, a fan, and a cooler.

General parking is free near the park entrance. VIP ticket holders will receive access to closer parking near the main stage.

With a mix of legacy acts and rising stars, ROMP continues to build on its roots as one of the premier bluegrass festivals in the region — offering something for hardcore fans and first-timers alike. Just don’t forget your water bottle.
