The spotlight is set to shine bright once again at RiverPark Center as Broadway makes its return to Owensboro, with three touring productions set to take the stage between September and November. The 2025-2026 season includes a new musical based on Pride and Prejudice, a Tony Award-winning retelling of Greek mythology, and a holiday production featuring music by Dolly Parton.
Presented by Oak View Group in partnership with Owensboro Health and Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline, the season aims to offer a range of performances appealing to a broad audience.
“We’re proud to bring another exciting season of Broadway to RiverPark Center,” said General Manager Chris Patterson. “We are committed to presenting high-quality productions that entertain and connect with our community.”
The season opens September 23 with Austen’s Pride: A New Musical of Pride and Prejudice. This adaptation reimagines the classic Jane Austen story as the author herself embarks on a journey of self-discovery. The production features an original score and a fresh narrative structure that blends Austen’s characters with her own personal reflections. A release about the performance says, “As the stormy romance between Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy unfolds in a fresh narrative, Austen gains new insights into both her creations and her own identity.”
Next is Hadestown, scheduled for October 17. The musical, which won eight Tony Awards in 2019 and a Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album in 2020, merges the stories of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice with those of King Hades and his wife Persephone. With a focus on themes like love, trust, and resilience, the show uses a distinctive musical style and ensemble cast to guide the audience through its version of the underworld.
The season closes November 15 with Dolly Parton’s Smokey Mountain Christmas Carol. The performance infuses Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol with Appalachian charm and Parton’s iconic songwriting. Set in 1930s East Tennessee, the story reimagines Ebenezer Scrooge as a mining company owner who rediscovers the spirit of the season through ghostly visits and heartfelt songs.
