The Owensboro Symphony will bring the sounds of Hollywood to Owensboro on Saturday, performing iconic film and television scores during its annual Concert on the Lawn.
The free community concert begins at 7 p.m. on the front lawn of Kentucky Wesleyan College, with picnicking starting at 5:30 p.m. The event has been sponsored by U.S. Bank since its inception in 1987.
“This concert is a celebration of some of the most iconic music ever written for film and television,” said Troy Quinn, music director and conductor of the Owensboro Symphony. “From superheroes to love stories, the audience will be transported by the power of these unforgettable themes. It’s a musical journey everyone can enjoy.”
Organizers said the Concert on the Lawn marks the unofficial close of summer for some; for others, it signals the start of another Owensboro Symphony season. For all, organizers said, it’s an evening of music, fellowship, and fun under the open sky.
Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and picnic baskets. Several local food trucks will be on-site, and reserved tables with catered dinners are available.
Table reservation options include a table with eight chairs and a Moonlite dinner for $400, or a table and eight chairs without dinner for $200. All reservations must be made in advance by calling 270-684-0661 or visiting OwensboroSymphony.org.
As part of the festivities, table patrons can enter the annual table decorating contest, with this year’s theme of Hollywood Soundtracks. Creative and festive decorations are encouraged.
