The Imagination Library of Daviess County has released its 2025 pewter holiday ornament, featuring Reid’s Orchard.
The collectible series, which began in 2004, highlights well-known Owensboro landmarks. Ornaments are $18 each, with proceeds benefiting the local Imagination Library program, which mails free books to children from birth to age 5.
The 2025 Reid’s Orchard ornament is available — along with designs from previous years — at Crazy Me, Willow & Pine, Danhauer Drugs, and Julep Home & Gift. Reid’s is also carrying this year’s ornament.
Diane Bowers, chair of the Imagination Library of Daviess County, said the landmark selection often resonates with the community, sparking memories and boosting sales.
“We feel like Reid’s is a really nice-looking ornament,” Bowers said. “So many people have good memories of taking their family there. I can remember as a child, I went there and we picked peaches and we picked apples, and so it has a warm place in a lot of people’s hearts.”
Katie Reid Clark of Reid’s Orchard expressed an appreciation for the honor.
“This ornament honors our past, celebrates our present, and carries our story into the future,” Clark said. “For over 150 years, Reid’s Orchard has been where memories grow. My family and I are very appreciative of all the support our community has poured into us — and continues to give — as we keep this legacy alive.”
The ornament fundraiser helps cover the roughly $4,000 monthly cost to provide books to local children, even with the state covering half the expense.
“What a lot of people don’t realize is that the Dollywood Foundation manages the selection and mailing of the books, but it’s up to our organization to pay for the cost for the kids here in Daviess County,” Bowers said. “We want to serve every child — there’s no income requirement. We want every child to have that excitement of getting a book in the mail with their name on it.”
