Independence Bank launched its second annual Day of Good on Friday evening in Owensboro, with events continuing through the weekend in support of Special Olympics Kentucky’s state softball tournament.
The initiative will expand over the next six weeks, with volunteer efforts scheduled across the bank’s 15-county footprint. The bulk of projects will take place on September 20, with the final event planned in Lexington on October 18.
“This year, we’re partnering with 15 organizations, agencies, and nonprofits across Kentucky and providing more than 400 volunteers to serve in projects that touch lives and uplift our neighborhoods,” said Phil Riney, Bank President for Independence Bank. “From serving meals to first responders, coming alongside Special Olympic athletes, and providing a comfortable place to sleep for those with beds, this effort prioritizes providing a hand up.”
Local projects include supporting Special Olympics Kentucky Inc. in Daviess County, partnering with Hancock County High School, and working with the City of Livermore in McLean County.
“At Independence Bank, we continue going forward by giving back,” Riney said. “The Day of Good is more than an event — it’s a movement. It’s about showing up, stepping in, and making meaningful contributions that leave a lasting impact.”
