The Opportunity Center of Owensboro has selected Darren Peach as its next executive director, effective January 1, 2026.
Peach will succeed Rosemary Conder, who is retiring after three years leading the organization. During her tenure, the board said, the Opportunity Center expanded programs and strengthened community partnerships.
Peach has served as operations manager for the organization, overseeing payroll, budget planning, strategic planning, facility operations, and renovation and maintenance projects. He has also managed facility rentals for bingo vendors and community partners while working closely with clients in daily activities. His role has given him a strong understanding of Medicaid waiver programs that support participant services.
A lifetime resident of Daviess County, Peach is a retired Owensboro firefighter and graduate of Brescia University.
“I am truly honored to step into the role of executive director at the Opportunity Center,” Peach said. “I’ve seen firsthand the dedication of our staff, the determination of our clients, and the incredible support from our board of directors and the community. I look forward to building on this strong foundation as we continue to create opportunities that empower and inspire.”
Charlene Salpietra, president of the board of directors, said Peach’s track record makes him well-suited to lead the center.
“Darren has proven himself to be a capable leader who is deeply respected by our staff, clients, and board members,” Salpietra said. “His blend of operational expertise, financial management skills, and commitment to our mission makes him the right choice to lead us into the future.”
The Opportunity Center’s board said it is confident Peach will continue to build on the organization’s mission of empowering individuals with disabilities through training, meaningful work, and community engagement.
