Faith Fest 2025 to unite local faith communities through peace, music, and fellowship

Faith Fest 2025 will bring together 18 local faith communities and two community organizations for a two-week celebration of peace, learning, and fellowship across diverse religious traditions in Owensboro.

The 15th annual event will take place from November 7 to 23 and will feature more than a dozen programs, ranging from prayer services and concerts to youth engagement and wellness activities. It will conclude with the 18th annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Service at 2:30 p.m. on November 23 at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Owensboro, located at the corner of Cedar and Parrish avenues.

The Owensboro-Daviess County Ministerial Association, Owensboro Interfaith Center, and their community partners organize Faith Fest each year to promote understanding and friendship among people of different faiths.

Four key collaborative events will highlight this year’s celebration. Jummah at the Islamic Center of Owensboro on Friday, November 8, at 1:30 p.m. will feature Friday Congregational Prayers, followed by a dialogue between Dr. Aseedu Kalik, President of the Islamic Center, and Father Larry Hostetter, Pastor of St. Pius X Parish. The discussion will focus on “the way of peace.”

The Youth Peace Summit, called Ripple Effect! Area Youth Leading the Way to Peace will take place on Wednesday, November 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Third Baptist Church. The event invites teens, youth ministers, and parents for an evening of dialogue and planning, co-sponsored by NonViolent Owensboro and Third Baptist Church.

A Health Expo titled Explore Spiritual Principles for Health & Wellbeing will be held on Sunday, November 16, from 2–5 p.m. at Immanuel Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Co-sponsored by all three local Seventh-Day Adventist congregations, the event will offer attendees the opportunity to celebrate health and the natural world, as well as have their blood pressure checked.

The Joint Musical Concert and Sing-Along, The Hymns We Share, will bring together the music ministries of St. Stephen Cathedral and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, November 20, at St. Stephen Cathedral.

This year’s keynote lecture, Ministering in a Multifaith World, will be presented by Fr. Patrick Cooney, OSB, a monk of St. Meinrad Archabbey and Judicial Vicar of the Catholic Diocese of Owensboro. The event is co-sponsored by Brescia University’s Campus Ministry and the Owensboro Area World Affairs Council and will take place at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 19, in Duffy Auditorium at Brescia’s C.E. Field Center.

Other events include the Annual Sacred Text Exhibit at Daviess County Public Library on November 8, a visit to the Tri-State Hindu Temple in Newburgh on November 10, Torah Study at Temple Adath Israel on November 13, and a Bluegrass Gospel concert by The Lowland Ramblers at Central Presbyterian Church on November 15.

Midday meditations will be offered on November 11 and 18 at Unity Fellowship, and a special midday movie, My Father’s Name, will be shown on November 21 at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Owensboro.

According to a release, Faith Fest began in 2011 and has grown into one of Owensboro’s most significant interfaith traditions. The Kentucky Council of Churches recently recognized the Owensboro-Daviess County Ministerial Association for its ongoing efforts to bring people of different faiths together in friendship and understanding.
