Dr. April Devine has been named the Daviess County Public Schools assistant superintendent of human services.

Devine joined DCPS after working in Hopkins County Schools, where she most recently served as director of pupil personnel. Her career there also included roles as director of assessment, assistant principal at West Hopkins School, and English teacher and curriculum coordinator at Madisonville-North Hopkins High School.

Devine said she is committed to building student-centered environments by supporting and empowering teachers and staff. She said her leadership style is collaborative and strategic, with an emphasis on staff well-being and professional growth.

“I am honored to join Daviess County Public Schools because of its strong reputation for excellence and its commitment to supporting both students and staff,” Devine said. “I see this as more than a job; it’s a chance to grow with the district, serve the community, and help foster an environment where every student and staff member can thrive.”

Devine earned a doctorate in education from Oakland City University in 2020 with a focus on educational leadership. She also holds multiple degrees from Murray State University, including superintendent and DPP certification (2013), a master’s degree in school administration (2012), a master’s degree in secondary education in English (2005), and a bachelor’s degree in secondary English education (2000).
