Wendell Foster will host its Fall Yard Sale this Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon, with proceeds helping purchase Christmas and birthday gifts for residents. The local nonprofit is also seeking donated items from the community ahead of the event.

The sale is held twice a year on Wendell Foster’s campus. Director of Recreation Jennifer Owsley-Midkiff said expanding to a two-day format last year helped increase participation.

“Expanding to two days gives more people the opportunity to shop,” Owsley-Midkiff said. “Each year, the community support of our yard sales allows us to purchase gifts for residents on their birthdays. We’re grateful for each person who comes out and shops to benefit Wendell Foster.”

All donations except clothes and shoes will be accepted, including large items such as home décor and furniture. Owsley-Midkiff said shoppers can expect to find a wide selection of goods.

“We typically have several donations of durable medical equipment, and many people seek out our yard sale to get those items at a good price,” she said. “We also have an array of unique home décor items, books, toys, and more.”

Donations can be dropped off Nov. 4-6 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Young Building on Wendell Foster’s campus, 815 Triplett Street.

Lunch will also be available for purchase during the sale. A $7 meal includes a cheeseburger or hot dog, chips, a cookie, and a bottle of water — with proceeds also supporting the residents’ gift fund.
