Owensboro Health Regional Hospital has been named a High Performing hospital in U.S. News & World Report’s 2026 Best Hospitals for Maternity Care rankings, the highest designation awarded in the category.

U.S. News evaluates hospitals that provide labor and delivery services across the country. For the 2026 rankings, nearly 900 hospitals submitted data for review. The ratings are designed to help expectant parents compare hospitals based on quality and outcomes, according to a release.

OH officials said the hospital earned the High Performing designation based on several key measures, including lower cesarean section rates for low-risk pregnancies, fewer unexpected newborn complications, and strong breastfeeding support and practices that promote a positive birth experience.

“This achievement demonstrates the outstanding work of our team in providing safe, high-quality care for mothers and babies throughout pregnancy and birth,” said Brittany James, director of maternity services at Owensboro Health.

More than 2,100 babies were born at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital last year, according to hospital officials.

Mark Marsh, president and CEO of Owensboro Health, credited the hospital’s staff for the recognition.

“It takes a dedicated team to achieve this level of care,” Marsh said. “Our nurses, physicians, and support staff work together to ensure every birth is as safe and positive as possible. Serving families in our community is an honor we never take for granted.”

The full 2026 Best Hospitals for Maternity Care ratings are published by U.S. News & World Report and available to the public online.
