PorchFest OBKY will return to Griffith Avenue on June 13, bringing back its signature blend of front-porch concerts, local food, and neighborhood community for an eighth year.
The free music festival, presented by Furniture Warehouse, once again will transform the residential street into a walkable live-music corridor, with artists performing from porches up and down the block.
Tamarra Brasher, who co-founded PorchFest with her husband Andy, said planning is already underway following another strong year of band interest. Band submissions are accepted annually from Oct. 1 through Dec. 31, and more than 100 artists signed up this year, Brasher said. The selection process will begin soon.
As in recent years, organizers plan to feature approximately 40-45 bands across nearly 15 stages, with 10-12 food trucks. Other elements of the event are expected to remain largely the same.
“When a community comes together to support local artists, magic happens,” Brasher said. “We’re grateful for every neighbor, porch, song & sponsor that has made PorchFest possible — and we can’t wait for Year 8.”
PorchFest has grown into one of Owensboro’s most popular annual events since its debut in 2018, when about 2,000 people attended. In recent years, organizers have estimated crowds of roughly 10,000, drawn by the festival’s unique format that turns private homes into concert venues.
Last year’s event featured nearly 40 acts across 14 stages, with music running from mid-afternoon into the evening.
Attendees are reminded that PorchFest is hosted in a residential neighborhood and that state and local laws regarding public alcohol consumption are enforced. Guests are allowed to bring their own food and non-alcoholic beverages, but are asked not to bring alcohol or glass containers.
