Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky (HPC) has announced the return of Camp Erin, a free, overnight grief support camp for children and teens ages 6-17 who have experienced the death of someone significant in their lives.
Camp Erin 2026 will be held from July 31 to August 2 at the Gasper River Retreat Center outside of Bowling Green. Registration is now open, and space is limited.
According to a release from HPC, Camp Erin offers a safe and welcoming space where grieving children can connect with peers who understand what they’re going through, while also enjoying typical camp experiences such as ziplining, climbing, and team activities. The release said these fun experiences are paired with guided grief support sessions designed to help children express emotions, share memories, and develop healthy coping skills.
“Grief can feel overwhelming for young people,” said Caleb Potter, Bereavement Coordinator at HPC. “Camp Erin creates a space where they feel understood and supported. They leave with new friendships, tools for navigating their grief, and the reassurance that they’re not alone.”
Campers also participate in remembrance activities that allow them to honor their loved ones through memory sharing and creative projects. Licensed grief professionals and specially trained volunteers are on hand throughout the weekend to ensure every child feels safe, supported, and encouraged.

Camp Erin is a national bereavement program created and supported by Eluna, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children and families impacted by grief or addiction.
