From towering Tyrannosaurus rex jaws to up-close encounters with prehistoric creatures, a popular live children’s theater production is bringing dinosaurs back to life in downtown Owensboro.

Dinosaur World Live, winner of the 2024 Olivier Award for Best Family Entertainment, will stop at RiverPark Center at 6 p.m. on Feb. 10 as part of its third major tour of the United States.

The production is designed for audiences ages 3 and up and blends entertainment with educational elements.

The interactive show uses large-scale puppetry to recreate realistic dinosaurs on stage, offering young audiences an immersive look at creatures from the prehistoric world. Featured dinosaurs include the Tyrannosaurus rex, Giraffatitan, Microraptor, Segnosaurus, and Triceratops.

The story follows Miranda, the daughter of paleontologists who grew up on a remote island surrounded by dinosaurs. During the show, she introduces audiences to her prehistoric companions.

Dinosaur World Live has toured internationally, with multiple runs in the United Kingdom, including performances at London’s Regent’s Park Open-Air Theatre and Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre, as well as tours across the United States, Canada, Ireland, China, and Australia.

Following the performance, a post-show meet-and-greet will give children the opportunity to get a closer look at the dinosaurs and interact with the performers.
