With Lent beginning this week, churches across Owensboro and surrounding communities have been preparing for one of the season’s most familiar traditions — Friday fish fries.
In the Catholic Church, Fridays during Lent are observed as days of abstinence from meat. As a result, fish fries have become a staple for many families throughout the region.
