The City of Owensboro is expanding its All-American Fourth of July celebration this summer, turning the holiday into a full weekend of events along the downtown riverfront to mark the nation’s 250th anniversary.
The two-day celebration will feature free, family-friendly entertainment on both July 3 and July 4, including live music, a drone show, and the City’s annual fireworks display.
“We were excited for the opportunity to build on our already popular All-American Fourth of July plans and create something even bigger for this historic milestone,” said Public Events Director Tim Ross. “With the holiday falling on a Saturday, adding a drone show on Friday night just made sense. It’s going to be an exciting weekend in Owensboro.”
Festivities begin July 3 with Friday After 5 on the riverfront. Live music will include Cynthia & the End Times and Whiskey Row on the Main Stage, along with Last Call on the Overlook Stage. The evening will conclude with a free drone show over the downtown riverfront.
“Friday After 5 is thrilled to help kick off a weekend of celebrating our country,” said FA5 Executive Director Brad Howton. “There’s no better place to gather with friends and family than along the riverfront.”
Events continue on July 4 with another evening of activities downtown. Live music will feature Hall Pass and the Downtown Band. The Owensboro Convention Center will host 4th Fest, offering inflatables, games, and other family-friendly attractions with free admission.
The weekend will conclude with Owensboro’s annual fireworks show, which will be launched from multiple locations across the city, including the downtown riverfront, Southern Little League fields, Owensboro Sportscenter/Moreland Park, and Owensboro Warehouse Leasing (the former GE plant site).
“The City of Owensboro is proud to host two back-to-back evenings of free, family-friendly fun as we celebrate our nation’s 250th anniversary,” said City Manager Nate Pagan. “This is a special opportunity for our community to come together, reflect, and celebrate in a big way.”
