Few pieces of movie music are as instantly recognizable as the ominous march that signals Darth Vader’s arrival in Star Wars or the heart-pounding theme that warns a shark is lurking beneath the surface in Jaws. Those iconic moments — and many more — were brought to life by legendary composer John Williams.
The Owensboro Symphony will celebrate that legacy Saturday with Tribute to John Williams at the RiverPark Center, featuring selections from some of the most memorable film scores ever written.
Led by music director Troy Quinn, the performance will highlight the composer’s unmistakable style and the emotional power his music brings to the big screen. Williams’ work helped define scenes from films including Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Jaws, and Harry Potter, among many others.
The concert will take place on Saturday at the RiverPark Center, 101 Daviess Street. Lobby doors open at 6 p.m., and the evening will begin with a pre-concert discussion titled “Behind the Music with Troy Quinn” from 6:15-6:40 p.m. in Cannon Hall. Audience members may sit anywhere during the talk before moving to their assigned seats for the performance.
Tickets are available by calling 270-684-0661 during regular box office hours or by visiting owensborosymphony.org.
The concert is supported by Premier Sponsors The Glenmore Distillery, Sheffer & Monhollen, PLLC, and Anne and Ronald Sheffer, along with Corporate Partners Adams and Whitt Periodontics, PSC. The Owensboro Symphony’s 2025-26 season is presented by Owensboro Health.
