Visit Owensboro has announced the inaugural Bluegrass Clash Sports Summit, a multi-sport event set to bring athletes and spectators to Owensboro across two weekends this summer.

The event will take place July 10–12 and July 17–19 and will feature a variety of competitions throughout the city and county. Organizers say the summit is designed to highlight Owensboro’s growing reputation as a destination for sports tourism.

“The Bluegrass Clash Sports Summit will be a celebration of athletic opportunities.” Lucas Daunhauer, of the CVB’s sports operations, stated. “We are excited to welcome a large number of sporting events across these two weekends as a culmination of what Owensboro has become as a sports destination. There will be opportunities for all ages and skill levels in a wide variety of sports across these two weekends.”

Daunhauer said the events are being organized by nationally recognized groups that have taken notice of the community’s ability to host large competitions.

“The sporting events coming in are put on by nationally recognized groups who continue to see the value our community has to offer as a sports town, especially as we approach the opening of more state-of-the-art facilities,” Daunhauer stated. “Our local partners, facilities, and offices have done an excellent job in helping facilitate these events and providing them with a variety of downtown entertainment options and activities. We know this will be an occasion to remember as groups from across the world travel to compete in Owensboro.”

The summit will feature events in baseball, softball, basketball, cornhole, pickleball, bowling, taekwondo, tennis, disc golf, mountain biking, and other fitness competitions. Activities and competitions will be hosted at various facilities across Owensboro and Daviess County.

Visit Owensboro is partnering with several local and regional organizations to stage the event, including the City of Owensboro, Owensboro Parks and Recreation, Oak View Group, Daviess County, and Daviess County Parks and Recreation.

Additional partners such as Friday After 5 and The Eric Group are also working with organizers to provide entertainment and riverfront activities for athletes, spectators, and families during the two weekends.

Specific competitions and schedules for the Bluegrass Clash Sports Summit will be announced at a later date. Visit Owensboro encourages the community to follow its social media channels for updates and information on how to participate or attend events.
