Windy Hollow Speedway will open its 2026 racing season tonight under new ownership, marking a new chapter for the longtime 3/8-mile dirt track.

The season opener comes after the facility changed hands during the offseason, with ownership transferring from Evelyn “Rooster” Miller to Trevor Hutchins and Misty Westerfield — the first ownership change in the track’s 56-year history.

“It has been a busy off-season at the track,” Hutchins said. “We have made a lot of improvements to the facility and continue to upgrade the property.”

Track officials got an early look at those improvements during an impromptu practice session on March 21, which drew 56 cars.

“We had cars from all over the area and different types of cars on the track,” Hutchins said. “We wanted to not only give them a chance to shake down their equipment but also use it to test the surface and the improvements.”

Tonight’s event will feature the Midwest Mini-Sprint Association and Midwest Thunder 410 Sprints, along with opening points races for CRUSA Street Stocks, Rusty Bolts, Bombers, Crown Vics, and Mini Stocks.

The Windy Hollow Speedway Kids Club will host an Easter egg hunt and a visit from the Easter Bunny beginning at 3 p.m.

Gates open at 2 p.m., with qualifying set for 5:30 p.m. General admission is $20 for adults, $10 for children ages 6-10, and free for ages 5 and under.
