Independence Bank has announced a series of leadership changes aimed at strengthening its presence in western Kentucky.

Kevin Kauffeld has been named Daviess County Market President, while Scott Johnston will serve as McCracken County Market President. Nick Oller has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Retail Lending, and Drew Hulette has been named McCracken County Senior Lender.

Kauffeld most recently served as McCracken County Market President, a role he held since joining Independence Bank in 2019. Prior to that, he worked for the Catholic Diocese of Owensboro for 18 years, including eight years as Chancellor. A Brescia University graduate, Kauffeld is returning to Owensboro, where he previously lived and raised his family.

Johnston brings nearly 40 years of banking experience to his new role. He joined Independence Bank in 2010 and most recently served as Vice President and Senior Lending Officer in McCracken County.

“These changes reflect not only the strength of our team, but also our commitment to the communities we serve,” said Bank President Phil Riney. “We’re proud to see these two leaders step into roles where they will continue to make a meaningful difference for businesses, families, and nonprofits.”

Oller, who joined the bank in 2003, has held multiple leadership roles over the past two decades, most recently serving as Daviess County Market President. In his new position, he will focus on retail lending across the bank’s footprint.

Hulette, who joined Independence Bank in 2022 as a commercial loan officer, brings nearly 30 years of banking experience in western Kentucky to his new role as McCracken County Senior Lender.

“Our purpose has always been rooted in people,” said CEO Greg Mullican. “These four individuals exemplify what it means to be ‘Here for Good.’ They lead with integrity, invest in professional relationships, and understand that long-term success is built by doing the right thing every day.”

Independence Bank operates in 15 markets across Kentucky and said the leadership changes are part of its continued focus on serving clients and supporting local communities.
