Elizabeth Caudill has been named the new principal at Whitesville Elementary School, according to an announcement made Monday by Daviess County Public Schools.
Caudill will officially begin her new role on July 1.
Caudill began her educational career in 2016 with Owensboro Public Schools as an elementary classroom teacher at Foust Elementary School, where she taught kindergarten, first, second, and fourth grades over five and a half years. During that time, she helped develop a school-wide behavioral incentive program, collaborated with school leaders on student growth initiatives, mentored new teachers, and tailored lessons to meet the needs of diverse learners.
After her time in the classroom, Caudill served three and a half years as an instructional coach at Foust Elementary School, focusing on student learning, curriculum-based professional development, school culture initiatives, and implementation of newly adopted curricula. She also assisted with analyzing student data and creating family engagement opportunities.
Caudill currently serves as preschool coordinator for DCPS, a position she has held for the past year. In that role, she oversees the district’s preschool program, supports implementation of Tier 1 curricula, leads professional development for preschool staff, and works with building administrators to ensure preschool regulations and processes are followed.
She holds two master’s degrees — one in principal certification from Western Kentucky University, earned in 2021, and another in teacher leadership from the University of the Cumberlands, earned in 2018. She also earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from WKU in 2016.
“It is a privilege to be named as Principal at Whitesville,” Caudill said. “I am grateful for the opportunity to work alongside the Whitesville staff to build upon their current success.”
She said she hopes to continue strengthening the school’s culture and traditions.
“As the Principal of Whitesville, I am committed to student success, collaboration, communication, and a strong culture,” Caudill said. “‘The Whitesville Way’ sets this school apart. I want to continue fostering the strong relationships, high expectations, and a supportive environment that make Whitesville such a special place.”
DCPS Assistant Superintendent for Human Services Dr. April Devine said the district conducted a collaborative and rigorous selection process and received strong feedback from Whitesville stakeholders about the qualities they wanted in the school’s next leader.
“Daviess County Public Schools has established a collaborative, thoughtful, and rigorous process for selecting school principals,” Devine said. “We were fortunate to have an exceptional pool of candidates for Whitesville Elementary.”
Devine said stakeholders wanted a student-centered leader who is hardworking, visible, and focused on academics and achievement while continuing the school’s traditions and culture.
“We are thrilled to introduce Elizabeth Caudill as the next principal of Whitesville Elementary,” Devine said. “Mrs. Caudill is a dedicated advocate for students and a passionate champion of excellence for all WES students.”
