One of Whitesville’s favorite summer traditions is set to return as the 18th Annual Fireworks in the Park takes place tonight at Whitesville Community Park.

The free, family-friendly event begins at 5 p.m. with live music, food vendors, and games. The evening will conclude with a fireworks display at dusk. Organizers encourage attendees to bring lawn chairs and arrive early to enjoy the festivities.

Mayor Patsy Mayfield said the annual celebration continues to be one of the community’s most anticipated events.

“This is the 18th year for Fireworks in the Park, and every year it continues to grow,” Mayfield said. “It’s such a success because the community pours so much into it — everyone enjoys coming out.”

Live entertainment will be featured throughout the evening, while local schools and community organizations will offer a variety of food and refreshments as fundraisers.

Mayfield said the event’s success is a reflection of the volunteers, sponsors, and community members who help make it happen each year.

“This is truly a community event,” she said. “It’s become something people look forward to each summer. It brings families together and gives us a chance to showcase our park and our people.”

Food and music begin at 5 p.m., and the fireworks display is scheduled for dusk. Admission is free.
