Green River Distilling Co. is set to debut the oldest bourbon released in the company’s history as part of a new limited-edition Distillery Select series.
The inaugural release, Toasted Double Oak Bourbon, will first be available at Green River’s Owensboro distillery on June 20, followed by a release at the brand’s Louisville tasting room on June 26.
According to the distillery, the Distillery Select series will highlight unique expressions of Green River whiskey through specialized proofs, finishes, and barrel selections while remaining rooted in traditional bourbon-making practices.
The first release is an 8-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon finished for six months in new American toasted oak barrels, making it the oldest Green River bourbon brought to market to date.
Toasted Double Oak begins with Green River’s traditional mash bill of 70% corn, 21% rye, and 9% malted barley. The bourbon was aged for eight years in the distillery’s clay-tile rickhouses before 13 barrels were selected from Warehouse B and transferred to a second barrel featuring a light char and medium toast.
The result is a bourbon bottled at 115.1 proof.
“The strong fruit flavors of Green River are ideally suited for a double barrel,” said Dan Callaway, master blender for Lofted Spirits. “The bold flavor pairs perfectly with the additional wood sugars and spice imparted during the extra six months of double barreling.”
Callaway said the new series will showcase some of the distillery’s top whiskey offerings.
“The historic Green River distillery is sitting on some of the best whiskey in Kentucky,” he said. “The Distillery Select series will allow us to take our classic bourbon and rye mashbills to the next level.”
Before its public release, Toasted Double Oak earned a Double Gold medal and scored 96 points at the 2026 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
The bourbon will be sold exclusively at Green River’s Owensboro distillery and Louisville tasting room. Bottled in 375-milliliter containers, the release will retail for $49.99 while supplies last.
Green River plans to celebrate the launch with a daylong event June 20 at the Owensboro distillery. The event will include special tours and tastings, food, entertainment, and an opportunity for visitors to purchase the new release.
Founded in 1885, Green River is the 10th-oldest licensed distillery in Kentucky and was reintroduced to the market in 2022. The Owensboro distillery serves as the westernmost stop on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail and is part of Lofted Spirits, one of the nation’s largest American whiskey distillers.
