The Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for the Leadership Owensboro Class of 2027, a leadership development program aimed at educating, engaging, and empowering current and future leaders across the Greater Owensboro region.
Organization leaders say that for more than 40 years, Leadership Owensboro has provided participants with an in-depth look at the opportunities, challenges, and resources that shape the community. The program covers topics such as economic development, education, healthcare, government, justice, philanthropy, human services, and the arts, while also connecting participants with community leaders and decision-makers.
“Strong communities need strong leaders, and Leadership Owensboro helps cultivate the people who will shape the future of the Greater Owensboro region,” said Julia Kimbrell Brooks, director of talent programs at the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce. “We are excited to bring together the Class of 2027 and welcome a diverse group of individuals who are ready to grow, connect, and lead.”
The program seeks individuals who demonstrate leadership qualities, a commitment to community involvement, and an interest in contributing to the region’s future success. Participants are selected through a competitive application process and attend monthly sessions from September through May, with graduation scheduled for June 2027.
Nomination packets are available through the Chamber’s website. Nominations must be submitted to Chamber Vice President Kitty Jones by July 3.
Applications will be sent to nominees on July 6, and completed applications are due by July 31.
The Class of 2027 will begin with a mandatory overnight retreat Sept. 17-18 and will participate in monthly program days focused on key community topics through June 2027. Participants are also required to complete assignments and attend community meetings and events as part of the program’s graduation requirements.
