Owensboro native Lexi Lundy has been recognized as one of the top emerging professionals in the venue management industry after being selected for the International Association of Venue Managers’ 30 Under 30 Class of 2026.
The annual program recognizes 30 young professionals who have demonstrated leadership, innovation, and a commitment to advancing the venue management industry. Recipients were selected through a competitive application and judging process. The class represents a variety of venue types and career paths from across the country.
Lundy serves as senior event manager at the Owensboro Convention Center, which is managed by Oak View Group. In her role, she oversees the planning and execution of conventions, trade shows, banquets, weddings, and community events.
“I believe what helped set me apart was a combination of my career progression, my approach to client relationships, and my passion for creativity,” Lundy said.
Lundy’s path into venue management began about five years ago after the COVID-19 pandemic. With a background in nonprofit events, she applied for a social sales coordinator position at the Owensboro Convention Center. While she was not selected for that role, convention center leaders offered her a part-time event coordinator position instead.
Over the next four years, Lundy advanced from part-time event coordinator to full-time event manager and eventually senior event manager.
“Advancing from a part-time event coordinator to a senior event manager in just four years reflects the dedication, work ethic, and commitment I’ve brought to every opportunity,” she said.
Among the accomplishments she is most proud of are helping grow the convention center’s in-house events, including the Your Perfect Day Wedding Show and Mother’s Day Brunch. She also played a role in expanding in-house décor services, allowing the venue to offer more customized event experiences.
Lundy said earning her Venue Management School certification through the International Association of Venue Managers was another significant milestone in her career. She completed the two-year program as part of her commitment to professional development and continued learning.
A graduate of Murray State University, Lundy earned a bachelor’s degree in nonprofit leadership and management with a minor in psychology.
She credits Owensboro with helping shape her work ethic and approach to her career.
“Growing up in Owensboro helped shape my work ethic by teaching me the value of community, hard work, and reliability,” Lundy said. “Owensboro has a strong tradition of people supporting one another and taking pride in their work.”
Lundy also expressed gratitude for mentors and colleagues who have helped guide her career, including Jamie Scheffer, Mary Midkiff, and Jeff Esposito, as well as the support of her family.
Looking ahead, Lundy hopes to continue growing within the venue management industry. Her long-term goals include earning Certified Venue Professional and Certified Venue Executive designations and eventually stepping into an executive leadership role within the industry.
She said the recognition is especially meaningful because it reflects years of perseverance and personal growth.
“Success isn’t always a straight line, and setbacks don’t define your future,” she said. “This recognition is a reminder that persistence, resilience, and a strong support system can carry you through difficult times.”
Lundy will be formally recognized alongside the other members of the 30 Under 30 Class of 2026 during VenueConnect 2026 in Indianapolis.
